The Online Railbird Report: The "cadillac1944" Show
For the first time since September at the Full Tilt Poker high-stakes tables, pots of a half-million dollars were being played. The $500/$1,000 uncapped pot-limit Omaha heads-up tables have been hot this week, and it has, for the most part, revolved around one person. Who is “cadillac1944”? We’re not sure, but he sure does let it fly at the tables. Playing a bit with Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Di “Urindanger” Dang this week, cadillac1944 was involved in four separate $500k-plus hands.
Down Goes Dwan
Two hands between Dwan and cadillac1944 that hit $500,000 took place with Dwan on the losing end of both. On the first, he had the button and raised to $3,000. A call from cadillac1944 from the big blind brought out an 8♠6♥2♣ flop. Taking the lead was the way cadillac1944 wanted to play it, betting $6,000. Dwan called and when the 3♥ hit the turn, cadillac1944 checked. A $13,000 bet came from Dwan and cadillac1944 smooth called, leading to the 6♣ river card. There was $44,000 in the pot and cadillac1944 bet it, only to see Dwan pop it to $132,000. Cadillac1944 re-raised all-in with the bigger stack and Dwan called all-in for just under $100,000, only to see cadillac1944 table K♠8♣8♥2♠ for the top full house on board. The $507,765 pot was shipped cadillac1944’s way.
With the button, cadillac1944 raised to $3,000 and Dwan raised to $9,000 from the big blind. A call from cadillac1944 delivered a flop of 10♣8♣2♦. A raising war ensued with Dwan betting $13,000, cadillac1944 raising to $57,000, Dwan re-raising to $189,000, and cadillac1944 four-betting Dwan all in. After calling another $59,000 or so, Dwan showed 9♣7♥6♥4♣ for a flush draw and the monster straight draw, while cadillac1944 tabled A♣K♣9♦6♣ for a straight draw, the nut flush draw, and high cards. They ran it twice and on the first draw the 10♦ followed by the 2♥ hit, improving neither player, clinching the first half for cadillac1944 with the high cards. On the second run, the 5♣ hit the turn and sealed the entire pot ($514,961) for cadillac1944.
Back and Forth with Di “Urindanger” Dang
Dang was on the button, raising to $3,000. Cadillac1944 made it $9,000 to play from the big blind and Dang called. The flop came down J♣4♠2♥ with cadillac1944 betting the $18,000 pot. Dang popped it to $48,200, cadillac1944 reponded with a three-bet to $144,600, and Dang put in his remaining stack of just about $270,000. Cadillac1944 called with K♠K♦6♦6♥ and wasn’t in very good shape against Dang’s A♣J♠3♣2♣. They ran it twice and things looked even bleaker for cadillac1944 after the 8♣ turn card took away a few outs. However, the 6♠ river popped off to give cadillac1944 a winning set. It was more of the same on the second run. The 10♠ turn card kept Dang ahead, but the river was the K♥ and gave cadillac1944 another winning set to win the entire pot of greater than $555,000.
Dang, though, did get that back. He called cadillac1944's $3,000-button raise from the the big blind and saw the flop fall A♦9♥2♣. Dang check-called cadillac1944's $6,000 continuation bet and the 5♦ hit the turn. A series of raises followed after, culminating with Dang being all-in for greater than $285,000.
Dang: A♠K♥4♠3♥ (straight)
cadillac1944: A♥Q♥10♠9♣ (top-two pair)
They ran it twice and cadillac1944 did not recover this time, seeing the $588,000 pot head Dang's way.
