Aussie Millions: Main Event Day 2 0001

Day 2 of the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event is in the books. The remaining players from all three Day 1 flights met in the same room for the first time Wednesday. Play was split between the Crown Poker Room and Studio 3 where film crews have been getting footage of the action to air on TV.

Pierre Aoukar went into the day with the chip lead, but it would be David Frieling who would close out the day with just over 500,000 chips. Not far behind him are Dan Shak, Gus Hansen, Sorel Mizzi, Chad Wiedenhoeft, and Aoukar.

In all, this Main Event attracted 746 entrants, bringing the total prize pool to $7.46 AUD with first place taking home $2 million AUD. Only 294 hopefuls made their way back to Day 2, but by the day's end, only 85 were left. Players will be in the money after the 73rd player is eliminated.

Quite a few pros started the day but made early exits. Erick Lindgren, PokerNews' Tony G, WSOP last woman standing Leo Margets, Joe Hachem, Dan Harrington, James Akenhead, Mark Vos and quite a few others saw their dreams of the Aussie Millions Main Event title hit the rail.

Among the chip leaders above, Annette Obrestad, Andrew Feldman, Neil Channing, Barry Greenstein, J.P. Kelly, Ben Delaney, Steve Topakas, and Van Marcus will be returning to Day 3.

The Main Event wasn't the only tournament on the line-up today. The Australian Heads Up Championship was into Day 1b and the Teams Event was also running.

The Australian Heads-Up Championship will see the remaining players battle it out on Thursday with Andrew Lichtenberger, Barry Woods, Martin Gudvangen, Vanessa Selbst, Brian Roberts, Andrew Seidman, Kyle McMurphy and Darren Woods.
