The highlight of the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker on Day 9 was Event 21, a $215 no-limit Hold'em tournament with re-buys that took just shy of 18 hours to determine a winner. Big names Andy “BKiCe” Seth and Eric “thanksB” Froehlich made the final table, but in the end it was a Deutschland battle as the final three players all hailed from Germany. The heads-up duel between “Horst Heftig” and “Soterdelf” came to an end just before 8:30 a.m. on the East Coast when on a board of Q263, chip leader “Soterdelf” put in a reraise all-in with QJ. “Horst Heftig” called all-in with A8 and came up short when the river card fell the 7. “Soterdelf” collected $174,594.68 and the WCOOP bracelet for his efforts.

“Science” pulled off an impressive experiment at the final table of Event
22, the only fixed-limit Omaha Hi-Lo tournament on the WCOOP schedule. With three
players left, “Science” held just 5.6% of the chips in play, but he made a furious comeback and ruled all. On the final hand of play, the board read K4105. Betting had been capped on the flop, and “gudfaren” was all in on the turn, holding K1094, leading with kings and tens. “Science” showed AQA3 and had plenty of outs to a chop or scoop. It was the
J that landed on the river, making "Science" a Broadway straight and scooping him the pot and the championship bracelet.

Event 23 had the latest start of the day but ended well before the
first two events with its short 10-minute levels. “Moneyball16” and
“Str8$$$Homey” had the biggest stacks entering the final table and
later found themselves playing heads-up for the bracelet. “Str8$$$Homey” held the chip lead heads-up, mainly because of a key double-up with eight players remaining. “Moneyball16” three-bet all-in with AQ and “Str8$$$Homey” called all-in with AK. Big slick held up for “Str8$$$Homey” who went on to take down the tournament, earning over $125,000.
