PokerStars.com LAPT Vina Del Mar: Damian Salas Leads Final Table
Although he took the lead early in Day Two, Damian Salas put in a lot of hard time before he could officially claim the pole position going into tomorrow's final table at the PokerStars.com Latin American Poker Tour Vina Del Mar stop on Wednesday. It took a marathon 15 hours of action to determine the nine-player final table. The remaining 63 players took the field for the start of Day Two, with the top 27 places paid. With 28 players remaining, it would take more than two hours before the money bubble burst. Samar Hodali ended up with the dubious honor, finishing in 28th place.
Shirley Rosario failed to make the money when her pocket queens couldn't hold against an opponent's A-7. PokerStars-sponsored player Veronica Dab also succumbed before the bubble. But Maria Stern held her ground for a 19th-place, money finish. Argentina's Minond Oded put in a 21st-place finish. And two U.S. PokerStars qualifiers cashed; Zachary Fritz finished in 24th and Carter Phillips finished on the final-table bubble in tenth place.
When the final nine players return on Thursday, after a much deserved break from Day Two's lengthy ordeal, they'll be vying for the title and $141,426 first-place prize money.
