PokerStars.com EPT Deauville Day 2: Kranich Leads
Day 2 play in the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Deauville championship found 248 players returning to action at the Casino Barriere. By night's end, that field had been trimmed to 47 survivors, well inside the 64-spot money bubble. The day's action found most of the notables who began with chips on the rail as play wore on, with Germany's Moritz Kranich holding a healthy lead entering Day 3.
The day's start began with a minor mystery surrounding David "Devilfish" Ulliott, whose stack at close of Day 1b was reported in two widely different amounts. Ulliott turned out to have the overall lead when the day began, not the 50,000 or so in chips originally tallied. Ulliott was also among the few famous players to survive into the money and on to Day 3, where he'll be joined by notables Michel Abecassis, Alessio Isaia, Eric Haber, Mika Paasonen and Ivo Donev.
The day was less kind to many others, including Gino Alacqua, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso, Ludovic Lacay, Mats Iremark, Jesper Hougaard, Juha Helppi, Joao Barbosa, Surindar Sunar, Freddy Deeb and Ricardo Sousa. Barbosa, Sunar, Deeb and Sousa eked into the money spots before departing.
