PokerStars LAPT Nuevo Vallarta Mexico Stop Announced
PokerStars has now announced plans for the latest addition to the Stars-sponsored Latin American Poker Tour, the upcoming stop at Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. The Mexico event, scheduled for December 5-7, 2008, is one of three new venues for the LAPT in its current second season. Along with upcoming stops in Chile and Argentina, the LAPT Nuevo Vallarta stop has doubled the LAPT tour lineup from three to six offerings.
LAPT Nuevo Vallarta will be held at the beachfront Marival Resort & Suites, north of Puerto Vallarta on Mexico's Pacific Coast. Stars has already announced that several members of Team PokerStars Pro will make the trip, including Humberto Brenes, Andre Akkari, Alexandre Gomes and 2004 world champion Greg "Fossilman" Raymer.
Over a thousand players from 45 different countries took part in the LAPT's Season One stops, marks that will be easily eclipsed as the expanded second season plays out. Glenn Cademartori, the LAPT's president, commented on the tour's solid start. "PokerStars LAPT Season One was an overwhelming success, demonstrating the enormous growth and expansion of poker across Latin America and the appeal of these venues for international players," said Cademartori. "Moving the tour into Latin America's tourism high season will make it easier and even more enjoyable for players to travel to these exotic destinations for exciting live high-stakes championship poker. Players have a lot to look forward to in Season Two as we are doubling the size of the tour. It will now run from November to April visiting six countries in six months."
Satellites to all LAPT events, including the upcoming Nuevo Vallarta stop, are available for as little as $2.20 online at PokerStars. Prize packages to the event consist of $5,000 Main Event buy-ins, plus four nights' all-inclusive hotel accomodations and expense money.
