Joe Hachem & Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament Announced 0001

Australians Joe Hachem and Shane Warne are teaming up to host a charity designed to benefit sick and underprivileged children down under. The Crown Casino in Melbourne will host the charity event on October 27th, with proceeds going to the Shane Warne Foundation, which in turn will be redistributed to several charities serving the needs of kids.

The event begins at 5:30 pm on October 27th with Warne and Hachem heading up one of the Crown's 'Learn to Play' poker-instruction sessions, with action in the tournament itself getting underway at 7 pm. The event offers a guaranteed first prize of $25,000, with a $1,000 buy-in (and $500 rebuys) for interested contributors.

The night's fun also guarantees a celebrity at every table, with the extensive list of attendees. In addition to Warne, the star cricketer-turned-poker-player and Hachem, the 2005 WSOP Main Event champion, the list of attendees already includes the following: Jeff Fenech, Kevin Muscat, Grant Smillie, Brian McFadden, Dave Hughes, Glen Moriarty, Brendan Fevola, Gary Lyon, Trevor Marmalade, Billy Brownless, Glenn Robbins, Brodie Holland, Sarita Stella, Luke Hodge, Bridget McIntyre, Dermott Brereton, Simon Marshall, Fifi Box, Tottie Goldsmith, Robert DiPierdomenico, Jon Stevens, Danny Frawley and Brodie Harper.

Also scheduled is a celebrity auction with a host of special poker- and lifestyle-themed items up for bidding. It's all in support of Warne's philanthropic foundation, which has contributed more than $1.7 million to needy charities and individuals since 2005. Parties interested in attending are urged to pre-register online at www.crownpoker.com.au/NewsDetail.aspx?N=109 due to limited seat availability.
