Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Event #8 – 'uuhhhicall' becomes 'uuhhhiwin' 0001

Full Tilt's FTOPS series rolled on yesterday, with yet another $1,000,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em tournament. This time, it was a $1,000+$60 tournament, putting the buy-in on par with preliminary events in brick-and-mortar tournament series. Despite the investment, or perhaps because of it, 1,332 players entered, creating a nice prize pool of $1,332,000. First place stood to gain $250,416, and 216 places were paid. This tournament was also different in that it started at 9 p.m. Eastern time, making it less friendly to European time zones.

Many Full Tilt "red" pros showed for this, including several players who are high-stakes cash-game specialists and don't play in as many tournaments, such as Gus Hansen and David Benyamine. The only cashes among this elite group of 27, though, were JJ Liu in 125th and Lynette Chan in 40th.

The final table, as in event 7, was a sea of unknowns with few prior cashes to their name. luckychewy is probably the most prolific, having won a $69 and a $109+rebuy event on Full Tilt and PokerStars, respectively, in back-to-back days in August.

First out was Da_Mad_Hatter, who open-shoved in the cutoff 45 seconds into the event. The lone caller was luckychewy, who turned over AA to Da_Mad_Hatter's J7. The board read 210369 and Da_Mad_Hatter won $19,447.20 for ninth.

Next was holla-athca-boy, who also open-shoved, this time under the gun, for 131,319. TopTizzlePizzle re-raised to 230,000 and everyone else folded. TopTizzlePizzle flipped AK to holla-athca-boy's QJ. The board was 2A68K and holla-athca-boy left in eighth for $25,308.

Next, uuhhhicall made a big raise to 225,500 with blinds at 17,000/34,000. "goodbye guys gg gl!!" said djmanga as he pushed his last 57,398 in. Nobody else called and uuhhhicall, taking some back, showed JJ to djmanga's K3. The board was 96797 and djmanga was a pre-flop prophet, and out in seventh, earning $32,634.

On the next hand, with a dead small blind, PLAYMONEYPR0 shoved on the button. luckychewy called after requesting time, showing A2 to PLAYMONEYPR0's KQ. The board was 5JA67 and PLAYMONEYPR0 exited in sixth for $44,755.20.

Fourteen minutes, four players out. It would only take 12 minutes for the next elimination to occur, albeit after a five minute break. moneytree shoved in early position. "It's kinda a big all in. I guess," said moneytree09. TopTizzlePizzle called after requesting time, and showed AQ to moneytree09's 88. The board was K2K10J, giving Tizzle the river gutshot, and sending moneytree09 away with $62,604 in fifth.

Next, timmystrayer went all in in the cutoff, and TopTizzlePizzle again called time on himself, eventually calling with A9 to timmystrayer's 22. The board was AK467 and timmystrayer left in fourth for $82,584.

Ten minutes later, uuhhhicall made a standard raise on the button and and luckychewy called in the big blind. The flop was 98J. luckychewy checked and uuhhhicall bet about the same as he had before. luckychewy raised to 503,500, double what was in the pot. uuhhhicall shoved with 65 and luckychewy called with AJ. The turn and river were 102 giving uuhhh the flush, and sending the unlucky luckychewy out in third for $107,226.

Entering heads up, uuhhhicall held only a slim 2.25 to 1 lead over TopTizzlePizzle. Twenty minutes of battling later, and uuhhhicall had increased that lead to 5 to 1. He shoved on the button with K9 and TopTizzlePizzle called with 44. The board was J9322. The nine on the flop did it, and TopTizzlePizzle left in second for $155,178, leaving $250,416 and the FTOPS Event 8 title on the table for the champion, uuhhhicall.

Final standings:

1st (uuhhhicall): $250,416
