WCOOP – Event #16, $320 PLO H/L: 'tiger76' Notches Comeback Win
The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) continued its successful run Tuesday as Event #16, $320 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Low, brought in 1,536 participants and generated a $460,800 prize pool.
It took only six hours for 'beerbear123' to burst on the bubble in 226th place and just another six hours for the final table of nine to be reached after 'DWizard', getting short-stacked to just 15,000 in chips, raised all-in preflop and was called by 'INKO05.' DWizard showed J♣5♥4♣2♣ and was up against INKO05's A♦7♦4♠2♥. The board came 2♠3♦4♦K♥7♠, giving DWizard two pair, but INKO05 a better two pair.
The final table consisted of 'VicVega9,' 'tiger76,' 'GotGame76,' 'Phyllis,' 'mikiantimd,' 'PokerSavage1,' 'mrmanorman,' INKO05, and 'Jackarama.' The first elimination hand of the final table came when Phyllis made it 42,000 to go pre-flop and was raised by INKO05 from the big blind. Phyllis called and the flop came 10♦7♦5♣. INKO05 led out for 270,000 and Phyllis raised 93,410, for all of Phyllis's remaining chips. INKO05 called and showed A♠4♦10♠A♦ and was up against 3♣10♣7♠A♥. The turn came the 3♦, giving INKO05 the second nut low and the nut high. The river brought the Q♣, which was of no help to Phyllis.
mikiantimd was eliminated when he and GotGame76, in the blinds, saw a flop of 8♥7♣6♥. Both players checked the flop while the turn brought the Q♣. GotGame76 made it 200,000 to go and mikiantimd came over the top for an additional 7,000. The 8♦ fell on the the river and GotGame76 bet enough to put mikiantimd all-in and was eliminated when GotGame86 showed 9♠Q♠A♣8♣ for the nut flush draw while mikiantimd had K♦9♦6♣6♦ for trips. The 8♦ on the river sealed mikiantimd's fate by missing his draw, leaving him on the rail in eighth place.
VicVega9 was eliminated next, when he raised pre-flop and was re-raised by INKO05 from the big blind. VicVega9 pushed all-in and the board came J♥3♥6♥7♣K♣. VicVega9 showed 5♣Q♣A♠3♠ for an 7-6-5-3-A low and a pair of threes for the high. INKO05 showed A♣J♦A♦2♠ for a better 7-6-3-2-A low and a pair of aces for the high. After the hand, INKO05 was up to nearly 1.4 million in chips, putting him in second place with slightly fewer chips than tiger76.
Jackarama was eliminated in sixth place when he called a pre-flop raise by INKO05. The flop came 8♠8♦6♠ and Jackarama led out for 60,000 after INKO05 checked. INKO05 check-raised to 120,000 and Jackarama moved all-in for his remaining 9,703. INKO05 called and showed 8♥9♣10♦2♦ for trip eights. Jackarama showed 4♣K♠5♦K♣ for two pair, kings and eights. The turn brought the 6♣, leaving Jackarama hoping for a king on the river. The river was instead the 10♠, giving INKO05 a full house and eliminating Jackarama.
Just eight hands later, mrmanorman called a pre-flop raise in the big blind from tiger76. The flop came K♣4♣2♣ and mrmanorman led out for 48,000 and tiger76 pushed back for another 105,088 and was all-in. tiger76 showed K♦4♦2♦K♥ for a set of kings while mrmanorman showed 9♣A♥3♦J♠ for the nut-low and wheel draws. The turn paired the board with the 2♥, giving tiger76 a full house and leaving mrmanorman still looking for any card lower than nine to split the pot. The Q♣ fell on the river and mrmanorman had no low, exiting in fifth place.
tiger76 held a strong lead with nearly 1.8 million in chips and quickly turned down the idea of a deal. With just four players left in the event, INKO05 also had over one million in chips, as did GotGame76, with PokerSavage1 being the severe small stack with 223,000. However, PokerSavage1 quickly chopped away at the remaining chip stacks and within no time was up to 800,000.
GotGame76 would take over the lead when he made two pair, kings and jacks against tiger76. GotGame76 soared into first place after the hand with nearly 2 million in chips, while tiger76 sunk down to slightly over 1 million. GotGame76 took a second large pot away from tiger76 when he made the nut flush on the turn. The hand had no low and GotGame76 shorted tiger76 down to just 650,000.
The final hand for PokerSavage1 came when GotGame76 raised to 75,000 pre-flop from the button. PokerSavage1, in the small blind, came over the top for another 175,000 and GotGame76 reraised to 550,000. PokerSavage1 made the call and was all in. The board came A♣6♠10♣A♠9♠ and PokerSavage1 showed A♥2♦4♣K♦ for three aces while GotGame76 turned a full house with 5♠4♥6♥A♦ and PokerSavage1 was eliminated in fourth place.
Play continued between the three players when tiger76 scooped a 1.9 million pot. With GotGame76 at 2.6 million, tiger76 at 1.9 million, and INKO05 at 1 million, a deal was worked out for tiger76 to receive $47,419, GotGame would get $68,974 and INKO05 the remaining $46,784. All players agreed and play continued on for a $14,000 purse and the bracelet to whoever would finish in first place.
INKO05 was eliminated in third place after getting involved in a betting war pre-flop with GotGame76. After three pot-sized bets, INKO05 was all in with 4♥5♠5♦A♠ against GotGame76's K♥K♣10♦6♠. The board came J♣8♦2♦2♥8♥ and INKO05 completely missed the low draw, as well as making a pair. GotGame76 made kings and eights and INKO05 was eliminated.
Heads-up play continued with both players being reasonably even in chips, until tiger76 managed to scoop a 3.5 million pot and take the lead. The final hand of the night came when GotGame76 raised pre-flop to 75,000 and tiger76 made the call. The flop came 8♠5♥3♣ and GotGame76 made it 100,000 to go after tiger76 checked. tiger76 check-raised up to 450,000 and GotGame76 called. The turn came the 7♦ and tiger76 bet 1,050,000 while GotGame76 raised for his remaining 309,336 and was all-in. tiger76 made the call and showed 4♠K♣10♥2♠ for a open-ended low and was up against GotGame76's nut-low draw. The river was the A♥, counterfeiting GotGame76's ace and tiger76 scooped the pot with the wheel to eliminate GotGame76 in second place, making tiger76 the champion of Event #16.
