PokerNews Cup to Be Televised by NPL to Over Half a Billion Households
Players in the upcoming PokerNews Cup Australia will have something extra to look forward to, with the news that the National Poker League (NPL) will be filming five one-hour episodes to be televised worldwide.
The NPL's global television distribution extends to over 500 million households across over 14 countries, and includes the MOJO HD network (Time Warner, Comcast, Cox Communications and Cablevision), WGN Superstation Cable Network, and CBS Stations Group via syndication in the US, plus TF1 in France (Eurosport France, Jet Sports and TMC), Sky Italia in Italy, EuroSport in the UK, Spain and Poland, and many more.
The PokerNews Cup is the first foray into live tournaments for PokerNews – and will be held from October 21-29 at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. The schedule features six championship events culminating in the three-day AUD$3,000 Main Event, which is expected to draw a huge international field and generate a prize pool well in excess of $1M.
Filming of the tournament will take place on all three days of the PokerNews Cup Main Event, with episodes expected to be shown in mid-December 2007.

The other tournament to be filmed for television will be the PokerNews Australian Bad Boys of Poker Invitational. This single-table AUD$10,000 event will feature some internationally recognized names alongside local heroes – all with the gift of the gab. The current lineup features 2005 World Series of Poker Champion Joe Hachem, 2006 Betfair Asian Poker Tour Champion and reigning WPT Bad Boy of Poker Antanas "Tony G" Guoga, plus WSOP bracelet winners Mark Vos, Jeff Lisandro and Gary Benson, plus 2006 EPT London runner-up Emad Tahtouh, and local high-stakes players Billy "The Croc" Argyros, Arul Thillai, Sam Khouiss and David Saab.
