One Loaded Plane – Team Full Tilt Arrive in Melbourne
Sports teams often travel on private planes to their destinations, with the multi-million dollar athletes sitting in posh leather chairs. If the plane doesn't reach its destination, the team doesn't play.
There was more poker talent on Quantas flight 94 from Los Angeles than probably any flight in the history of aviation...or poker. About 135 Full Tilt employees, professionals, and Aussie Millions package winners were aboard the flight, meaning there were more Full Tilt Aussie Millions players on this plane than there were in the entire main event here in 2004.
Players like Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and dozens more spilled out of the customs exit of International Terminal 2 at the Melbourne airport, and you got the feeling the poker room at the Crown would be filled to capacity in mere hours.
One place that wasn't filled to capacity was the area outside the left hand exit door at customs. Someone had left an unidentified package in the terminal, and the area was cleared, and the bomb squad called in.
But, everyone arrived safe and sound, and ready to drop bombs of their own on the poker tables of the Crown Casino. One would speculate that many of the people from Flight 94 would be in the $100,000 buy in mega event played out here at the Aussie Millions on Friday.
