Taping Of 'High Stakes Poker, Season Three' Set For Next Week 0001

After two excellently received and extremely popular runs, one of GSN's most popular productions, "High Stakes Poker", will be taping their third season next week.

For those poker fans who haven't seen the prior two seasons of the program, "High Stakes Poker" brings some of the greatest players in the game together for one of the purest versions of poker on television. Rather than playing a tournament, the players take part in a cash game, No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em competition in which the competitors bring a minimum of $100,000 to the table. Blinds are set for the program at $300/$600, but pots often climb into the tens of thousands of dollars as the professionals and select amateurs take money from each other over the span of the program.

While the taping of the program isn't open to the public, it will take place October 11th and 12th from 11AM to 11PM at the South Coast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This is the third different location used for the program, after starting at the Golden Nugget for the first year and moving to the Palms for the second season. Along with highlighting another poker palace, "High Stakes Poker" will also bring some familiar names to poker fans as well.

Previous programs have featured Barry Greenstein, Sam Farha and current Player of the Year leader Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi taking part in the game. While a full list of players hasn't been released for the third season, some big names have indicated that they will take part. Poker legend Doyle Brunson (always a player who is ready for a big game), Daniel Negreanu and Jennifer Harman, who have all taken part in the previous shows, look to be coming back again. Players making their debuts on the show include Howard "The Professor" Lederer, 2005 World Champion Joseph Hachem, "High Stakes Poker" host Gabe Kaplan and 2006 World Series of Poker runner up Paul Wasicka. An entire list of the participating players is due to be released before taping begins next week.

The series has been very entertaining for the players and the viewers alike, so it is excellent to see the third season coming together next week. Broadcast dates haven't been announced yet, but more than likely we'll see it either in late 2006 or January or February of 2007. Whenever it comes on, there will be fans that are waiting patiently for the third season of "High Stakes Poker" to hit the airwaves.
