Harrah's Chooses Official Timepiece For WSOP 0001

The World Series of Poker is truly going international, not only in its player base but also in its sponsor companies. After tapping the Miller Brewing Company and ESPN earlier in the month to serve as the official beer and the official broadcast outlet for the tournament for the next several years, Harrah's announced on June 19th that Swiss watchmaker Corum will serve as the "official timepiece" of the WSOP for the next six years.

In the letter of intent that was signed by Harrah's and Corum leaders, the deal will call for Corum to produce and market World Series inspired timepieces for retail sale. In addition to those responsibilities, Corum will also create special watches for World Series champions and also a specially created timepiece that each of the players at the final table of the $10,000 Championship Event will receive for their efforts. Corum timepieces have been called "the merging of 18th century craftsmanship with 21st century technology", incorporating their groundbreaking designs and technologies into masterpieces of watch making.

The company is definitely looking forward to the challenge that the World Series will be presenting them. "Corum is 'all in' for the World Series of Poker," said Michael Wunderman, the president of Corum. "Being the luxury watch brand that takes risks with our daring designs and distinctive innovations, there is no better partnership than with the World Series. Setting the trends and not following them is what sets us both apart in our industries."

Jeffrey Pollack, the Commissioner of the World Series of Poker, remarked, "This is a landmark deal for the World Series of Poker. The world's most prestigious poker tournament fits perfectly with a luxury brand like Corum. We both share a commitment to excellence and distinction, and we share a deep passion for the excitement, heritage and richness of poker."

This probably won't be the last deal we hear about from Harrah's regarding the World Series and we'll be sure to attempt to keep you updated as these deals come through. For more details on Corum, be sure to check out their website at Corum.ch.
