Day 1a Completed
The first of two starting days at the 2014 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event ended with 87 of 212 players seeing Day 2. The day consisted of seven and a half hour-long levels, and Bo “Box” Xie emerged as the field's chip leader with 166,000 in chips.
Alvan Zheng, who led the field most of the day, finished just behind Xie with 151,400. Not far behind that you will find Jaswinder Suri with 149,500 to round out the top three.
The day saw plenty of familiar faces come out to play at the PokerStars LIVE poker room in the City of Dreams. Some of the most notable players moving on to Day 2 include Christian Haggart (65,200), Victorino Torres (50,000), Iori Yogo (37,500), Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang (31,300), Daniel Laidlaw (24,400), Akira Ohyama (18,800) and Kitty Kuo (18,000).
Probably the most famous player in the room today, Johnny Chan, will not be making Day 2 as he was eliminated when his flush draw failed to complete against Liu Xiao.
Some other players you might know that failed to advance are Oliver Gill, Ashley Warner, Dean Blatt, Sunny Jung, Percy Yung and Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im.
Day 1b kicks off Thursday, again at 3 p.m. local time, with a bunch new faces including Team PokerStars Pros Raymond Wu and Celina Lin. Join PokerNews as we continue to bring you all the action as it happens. Until then, good night from the City of Dreams.

Bo "Box" Xie might've done enough to finish the day as the chip leader after taking out another player in the final few hands of play.
After he and another player both committed 2,300 pre flop, a flop of sparked a betting war between the two before both players committed all their chips.

Opponent:
Xie was in trouble, after his opponent had flopped the straight. However, running and gave Xie the unlikely flush adding another 30,000 to his stack to sit atop the rest of the field.

The action started with Bo "Box" Xie opening to 2,000 before Vivian Im threw out 3,000 in chips. Xie then made it 6,000 before another raise to 11,000 followed. Xie had enough and moved all in which had Im covered, who called.
Im:
Xie:
The board did not help Im who was eliminated from the tournament in the dying minutes. Xie moved up to 135,000 in chips.

The clock has been paused with just about 15 minutes left and it was announced the players will be playing five more hands to conclude today's play.
Action folded to Billy "The Croc" Argyros who bet 2,500 from the button. The player in the small blind folded and Akira Ohyama was put to a decision. Some table talk happened that we didn't catch but was implied that Ohyama made the call because of what was said and the fact the Argyros said he only looked at one.
The hands looked like this when they were tabled:
Ohyama:
Argyros:
Ohyama couldn't find any clubs when the board ran out . Ohyama asked Argyros if he only looked at one. Argyros said yes. Akira said, "that is running really well. When I had an ace with a jack I thought I was good."

We came upon the table with a board showing and a bet of 3,000 in front of Kitty Kuo who was UTG. Action was on Christian Haggart who was giving the situation some serious thought before finally making the call. Kuo quickly checked when the river was dealt and Haggart hesitated as if he was contemplating a bet but ended up checking behind.
Kuo quickly revealed which was dwarfed by Haggart's . Following that hand their table broke which means Vivian Im, Percy Yung and Kitty Kuo are going their separate ways with just 30 minutes left to play.
