Day 1b Completed
Franck Makaci finished on top of the leader board after 10 45-minutes levels of play on Day 1b of the 2014 PMU.fr World Poker Tour National Paris Main Event, bagging up 146,000 in chips.
David Lascar finished second place with 140,300, and Georges Viaud rounded out the top three with 126,300.
Makaci took the lead in Level 2 when he was involved in a three-way all-in pot on the turn of a board that read . Makaci held the , and his two opponents had the and the . While all three players currently had a Broadway straight, Makaci was freerolling the lot with his flush draw. As it turned out, Makaci spiked his card on the river — the — to triple up. From there, he cruised through to the end of the day.
As for the overall lead, that belongs to Day 1a's Guillaume Wilhelm. He remains the man to catch after finishing on 177,700.
Overall, 62 players from Day 1b made it through to Day 2. There are two more starting flights still to run for those who failed to still advance, so this field is only going to grow, grow, grow.

After Wilhelm Guillaume seized the Day 1a chip lead, players on Day 1b took to the felt for their own starting flight, some new, some old. Coverage of Day 1b will be postponed for the day due to timing issues with the event planned to run until 5 a.m. in the morning. At the end of play, a short recap of play followed by chip counts will be posted to lead into Day 1c, which will start tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time.

The players are on a 45-minute dinner break.
With the official registered players list released we can bring you more accurate information on who is in the tournament so far today.
Noemie “boonoemi” Phu was the player who hit her full house in level one.
Also in the field is businessman Lucien Cohen. The French are particularly proud of Cohen as he regularly plays in EPT Deauville and took home the title and €880,000 in 2011. Underestimate him at your peril.
The field is again heavily weighted in favour of local talent, many of whom won their seat right here at the club, and a smattering of Winamax players.
This brings the numbers up to 112 entrants with 7 re-buys and four eliminations already.

It all got very messy on the turn of a board reading . Three players were all in and the cards were on their backs as the other players strained to see what each player could possibly have.
One player turned over and was tying with another player who also had a straight with . It was Franck Makaci who was on his feet though urging a heart to come on the river with his . He was free rolling and his opponents looked on first in disbelief and then in horror as the river completed the board to give him the flush.
One player was bust; another left with change but Makaci was in dreamland with a triple up.

There was a great day of poker action on Day 1a starting at 10 a.m today but in the evening the venue really has come to life. An illuminated stained glass ceiling with cherubs looks down over the long hall of the main area. Poker action from satellites to cash games including HILO run along some baccarat tables and an antique roulette wheel.
This area leads to the modern circular dedicated poker tournament room decorated with WPT banners and lit by a calm green light where the 105 players are now set to play through the night trying to progress through to day 2.
Cercle Clichy is a truly wonderful place for a poker tournament and six players enjoyed it so much that despite busting Day 1a they have re-bought and are ready to go again right now.
