The 2012 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Sanremo €10,000 High Roller has wrapped up, and emerging victorious was Benny Spindler to add to his EPT trophy case.

This victory marks Spindler's second EPT High Roller title, and third EPT title. He won the EPT Tallinn High Roller in 2011, and he also won the EPT London Main Event that same year. To claim this title, Spindler had to defeat a very tough final table, and endure a five-hour heads-up match with second-place finisher Keven Stammen.

Spindler began the day second in chips to Joel Nordkvist, but the Swede wound up finishing in third place. When the final duel began, Spindler held the chip lead with 3.409 million in chips to Stammen's 791,000.

After some battling back from Stammen, followed by a double up, the two were much closer to even and talks of a deal surfaced. After some jockeying of the numbers, the two agreed to do a deal where Spindler would take €223,000, Stammen would take €200,000, and then there was €30,000 left for the winner. Well, that winner wound up being Spindler to give him a total score of €253,000.

On the final hand, Stammen moved all in with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} — a very good hand for heads-up play — but Spindler had picked up the mother of all hands with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. He even had Stammen's suits dominated. The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to eliminate Stammen and give Spindler the title.

For his win, Spindler earned €253,000, the gorgeous trophy and the magnificent Shamballa Jewells bracelet.

Keven Stammen Eliminated in 2nd Place (€200,000)

Keven Stammen
Keven Stammen

He went from almost nothing to a monster chip lead and then back again. Keven Stammen's heads-up performance was impressive, but it finally ended with Benny Spindler's pocket aces crushing Stammen's pocket sevens.

Spinlder raised to 100,000 before the flop and Stammen three-bet all in. Spindler snap called and flipped the best starting hand.

Spindler: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}
Stammen: {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}

Stammen needed the two remaining sevens in the deck to hit the board, but none of them came on the flop as the dealer opened {8-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {3-Spades}. The turn brought {5-Clubs} and Stammen got up from his seat to congratulate his opponent. The {5-Hearts} on the river didn't change anything and Keven Stammen finished the tournament in second place and will collect €200,000 in prize money.

Here, Stammen checked, Spindler bet 200,000, and Stammen check-raised to 475,000. Spindler called.

Spindler Doubles Again; Regains Chip Lead

Philipp Gruissem and Benny Spindler

Just like Keven Stammen took away Benny Spindler's chips by scoring one double up after another, now Spindler is taking them away in the same fashion.

Stammen called the big blind and Spindler raised to 130,000. Stammen called and the dealer opened the flop: {4-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {3-Hearts}. Spindler continued for 150,000 and Stammen made the call.

The {K-Clubs} on the turn was followed by a 250,000 bet by Spindler and Stammen called again. Spindler slowed down on the {5-Clubs} river with a check and Stammen shoved all in sending Spindler to the tank. He recounted his chips, shook his head, almost mucked his hand, but finally made the call pushing in 1,5 million chips and opened {9-Spades} {5-Hearts} for a pair of fives.

Surprisingly enough it was good enough to collect the pot as Stammen opened {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for nothing more than a flush draw and Spindler doubled up regaining the chip lead.

From the button, Benny Spindler raised to 80,000. Keven Stammen called from the big blind, and the flop came down {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} to pair the board, and Stammen led for 90,000. Spindler called.

The river completed the board with the {2-Clubs}, and Stammen bet 170,000. Spindler raised all in to 595,000, and Stammen quickly called.

Spindler tabled the {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the nut flush, and Stammen mucked. Later, Stammen claimed to have an eight-high flush.
