Costly Misstep For Watson

Daniel Alaei has just found a huge double up when his aces held up against Mike Watson. We picked up the action when Watson had put in a four-bet from the button to 17,000. Alaei had 8,500 invested from the big blind and he opted to make the call.

The flop came down {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} and Alaei checked to Watson who bet 11,200. Alaei acted very calmly and put all his chips into the pot after 30 seconds. Watson sighed right away as he was hoping for a different outcome of this hand. After doing some calculations Watson made the call creating a massive pot with only four players left.

Alaei showed his {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and Watson threw his {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} onto the table. The dealer misunderstood the action and mucked Watson's hand. Luckily he tabled it and everyone had seen what his cards were. The tournament director pulled Watson's cards from the muck and we went on as nothing had happened.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and the river the {J-Hearts} giving Alaei a big double up, and good chances to advance to the final table.
