Event #11: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

Day 1 Completed

End of Day 1

Casey Jarzabek with heaps.
Casey Jarzabek with heaps.

At the beginning of the day there were 2,563 runners, now only 297 remain. The action was fast-paced throughout the first ten levels, and we will return tomorrow only 27 spots from the money.

Casey "bigdogpckt5s" Jarzabek finished the day as one of our chip leaders with 105,200 to his name. Other large stacks include James Lee with 101,900 chips, Jason Young with 90,000 chips and Eric Ladny with 71,000 chips.

The action will resume tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. PST where we are scheduled to play down to the final table. Of course this could change, it is up to the discretion of the players and tournament staff.

We hope you join us again tomorrow and throughout the series right here at PokerNews.com!

Boeree Busts

Liv Boeree

With the board reading {9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, we arrived at the table to see Liv Boeree faced with a critical decision for most of her stack.

The board read {9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Boeree appeared to have bet 11,500 into a fairly healthy pot. Her opponent popped it to 45,000 and Boeree spent a good four minutes deliberating. In the end, she got it all in and tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, trailing her opponent's {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

The {K-Clubs} turn and {2-Hearts} river were blanks for Boeree and she is out just as Day 1 comes to a close.

Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

When we passed Jason Young's table we noticed that his stack ballooned to 90,000 chips.

How you ask?

Young flagged us over to tell us about the hand, and according to him Kyle Bowker opened to 2,500 and Young called in the small blind with wired threes. The big blind then raised to 6,500, and both Bowker and Young called.

The flop came {10-}{6-}{3-}.

Young checked, the big blind fired 15,000, Bowker folded and Young shoved for 40,000. His opponent called with kings and the turn and river bricked-off, sending the huge pot to Young.

"And then I went weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" he explained.

Very well said Mr. Young.

Ladny Climbing

Eric Ladny has been steadily chipping up throughout the day.

He just eliminated a player at his table holding {A-Spades}{8-Spades} against {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. The board ran {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{J-Spades} and Ladny was awarded the pot.

His stack now looks something like 88,000 chips.
