Brazilians Win Big in the 888poker Micro Rollers ChampionChips Main Event

888poker Micro Rollers ChampionChips

The Micro Rollers ChampionChips festival concluded at 888poker on April 23 with the crowning of the $100,000 guaranteed Main Event. The Main Event only cost $25 to enter, yet boasted a six-figure guarantee. Including re-entries, the Main Event saw 4,635 players buy-in, meaning the prize pool stood at an impressive $104,310 - making it one of the largest low-stakes online poker tournaments.

Brazilians cleaned up in the Main Event, finishing third, fourth, and on top. "9saymon" came out on top and received $6,372, including bounties, plus the title of Micro Rollers ChampionChips Main Event champion.

Mystery bounties came into play from Day 2 onwards, including one weighing in at $10,000. "Competencia," another Brazilian, pulled out the $10,000 before crashing out in 200th place. The two $4,000 bounties went to players who navigated their way to the final table.

The final table lost its first player early into the action. "Ph4N888" open-shoved for a shade over eight big blind from the cutoff with king-jack, only for "Dadidgg" to call in the small blind with the dominating king-queen. A queen on the flop left the all-in player drawing thin; they were drawing dead on the turn.

"Corner130" had sat down at the final table with only five big blinds, so a comeback was unlikely. Such a comeback became impossible after they found themselves all-in from under the gun with king-nine and up against the ace-king of "9saymon." The all-heart flop contained an ace, but "corner130" held the nine of hearts and also had outs to a chop. However, the turn and river bricked, and "corner130" was gone.

The flurry of eliminations continued with the exit of Ukraine's "Vozdushnil." "blefador97" min-raised to 500,000 from under the gun with queen-eight of diamonds, "Vordushnil" three-bet all-in from the button for 1,320,778 with ace-seven, and the original raiser called. The queen-eight improved to a flush on the turn, sending another player to the showers.

As the final table neared the one-hour mark, "YingYangZ" relieved "Sofronis2609" of their chips. "YingYangZ" open-shoved for 12 big blinds from the button with ace-ten, and "Sofronis2609" called off their last five big blinds with ten-eight. An ace on the flop left "Sofronis2609" drawing to running cards, but the deck did not come to their rescue.

The final four became three during the 300,000/600,000/75,000a level. "blefador97" min-raised to 1,200,000 with ace-deuce, "9saymon" three-bet to 3,450,000 with pocket jacks in the big blind, and called when "blefador97" moved all-in for 10,289,201 in total. A king-hight board meant "blefador97"'s tournament was over, and "9saymon" was the chip leader.

Third place went to "Dadidgg" after a clash with "YingYangZ" cost them their stack. "YingYangZ" min-raised to 1,200,000 with pocket eights, and "Dadidgg" opted to flat-call from the big blind. "Dadidgg" check-called a 965,250 continuation bet on the eight-five-deuce flop. The turn was the ten of spades, putting three spades on the table, with both players holding a fourth. "Dadidgg" check-called a chunkier 2,427,750 bet on the turn, leading the board pairing with a ten on the river. "Dadidgg" checked again before going deep into the tank when "YingYangZ" bet enough to put them all-in. "Dadidgg" couldn't find a fall and called with ace-high, only to discover "YingYangZ" was sitting there with a full house.

That hand propelled "YingYangZ" into a 36,476,842 to 19,155,158 chip lead over "9saymon" going into heads-up. However, "9saymon" drew level, claimed the chip lead, and then put quite some distance between themselves and their opponent.

The final hand of the Micro Rollers ChampionChips Main Event saw "YingYangZ" jam for 8,793,027, or 8.8 big blinds, with queen-six, and "9saymon" call with king-trey of hearts. Neither player connected with any of their hole cards, but "9saymon"'s king-kicker played and was enough to capture the title.

The 30 numbered events awarded a combined $369,731, including the $104,310 from the Main Event. Unsurprisingly, the Main Event champion banked the largest main prize pool prize, although several other players saw small investments swell into four figures.
